Shuster Way Bedford
Heritage Trail Support

Run, Run Rudolph Run, Walk, Stroll 5K

 

The Bedford Sunrise Rotary has been providing fundraising and volunteer support for the Bedford Heritage Trail for several years, and was very proud to play a significant role in the completion of Phase I of the trail between downtown Bedford and the Omni Bedford Springs Resort.

 

The club, in partnership with the Bedford Ambulance Association is the sponsor of the trail's large bridge, and we have made a number of donations from the annual Santa Walk Run Roll event.

ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity established in 2000 in Helston, Cornwall, UK, that provides emergency shelter and other aid items to families around the world who have lost their homes to disaster or conflict.  Rotary Clubs support this intiative by raising funds to purchase these disatser kits.

The Bedford Sunrise Rotary Club participates in many educational initiatives throughout the year in an effort to inspire the next generation toward excellence and service.

 

We sponsor the Bedford HS Interact Club and support/host in-bound and out-bound students through the Rotary Foreign Exchange Program. 

 

We also join with the Bedford Rotary (evening) Club in the Dictionary Project for the County's 3rd Graders and support FFA and 4H Clubs through the Bedford County Fair Sale.

 

In 2015, we partnered with the Chamber of Commerce to provide career exploration opportunities for the county's high school students. 
 

We also sponsor students to attend valuable camps: RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) and PFEW (PA Free Enterprise Week) in addition to sponsoring an annual music scholarship.

We are proud to support the efforts to honor military service in our community.  Our Club has raised funds to make donations toward the Bedford County WWII, Korea and Vietnam Monuments in Veterans Grove on the Squares in Bedford and the Everett Lions Club Medal of Honor Statue Project, planned for Everett.

Our Club participates in the PennDOT Adopt-A-Highway program, holding clean-up days twice each year on Business Route 220 between the Bedford Turnpike Exchange and Downtown Bedford. We're proud to beautify the road into dowtnown Bedford for citizens and visitors.
